THE QUERY LAB

Ready to pursue traditional publishing? You need an industry expert to guide you.

  • Book proposal template + editing: When deciding whether or not to acquire a nonfiction title, literary agents and editors rely on a book proposal from writers and authors. The book proposal gives agents and editors a comprehensive overview of not just your book but also of you as a working author. There is a specific formula to most book proposals, for which I will provide you a template and guidance. Through a content edit, we'll go over how to improve the book proposal through a round of revision before finalizing a copy to be sent with your pitch to agents.

  • Query letter template + revision: The first thing a literary agent or editor reads from you is your query letter. Again, this requires specific instruction as agents and editors are looking for certain things to help them to decide whether or not to request or review your actual manuscript or book proposal. I will provide you a template with instructions, and will then revise and finalize your query letter draft for you, leaving you with a killer pitch that will give you the best chance of scoring an agent.

  • Agent and publishing house pitch list: First things first! We'll need to create a list of literary agents to pitch to as well as indie publishing houses (if that is part of your path). I will help you by pulling from my own knowledge and resources to create a list that is catered to your genre and needs. Through the process, you'll also learn how to do this for yourself moving forward.

  • Publishing coaching: You're going to need a guide throughout this process who can answer all of your questions, who can help you objectively make the best decisions for your publishing path and future, who has the skills and the insider knowledge to properly lead you without bogging you down, and who can tell you when it's time to pivot or course correct. With this package comes bi-weekly coaching calls to help you navigate the publishing process with sure footing.

GHOSTWRITING

with a twist…

Writing and publishing a book is a deeply personal journey that you should never entirely relinquish to someone else. However, not everyone is a natural-born writer, and not everyone is interested in learning to become a writer - even if you do have a story burning inside of you.

Amanda has created a tried-and-true hybrid solution that takes the burden off you while also keeping you actively involved in the process. The result? A work of fierce passion that reflects your story and your voice, minus the agony of writing an entire book yourself.

This is also a one-stop shop kind of service in that every ghostwrite comes with professional book design and production services as well as PR + marketing coaching.

Amanda took my thoughts and experiences and put them to words to tell my story in a way that was masterful.

“After much conversation and deep introspection, Amanda took my thoughts and experiences and put them to words to tell my story in a way that was masterful. Through her writing, she focused her telescope inward to capture the very essence of my experience and then spanned outward to capture the 30,000 foot view that was my environment, family, neighborhood, and process of my life so that others could gain a well-rounded and thorough perspective. She made my book compelling and a must-read. I have received many compliments regarding my memoir. Readers said they cried, were scared, inspired, and couldn't wait to turn the page. The book took them right there where I was during each part of my life. At first, I was afraid to put my life out there. Now, I'm very happy that I did. Amanda's style of writing made my book real, but with the dignity and respect I wanted.

DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING + COPY EDITING

A content edit is a developmental edit that examines the structure of your manuscript and informs you of any revisions needed in the way in which your ideas are conveyed, ordered, or presented. Through an in-depth, professional synopsis, this type of comprehensive edit also offers you suggestions on how to improve your manuscript both in concept and delivery. Every content edit also includes a full copy edit.

A copy edit simply corrects all grammatical errors in your manuscript. This includes punctuation errors, spelling, tense, an evaluation of syntax, sentence structure, format, spacing, and style of the piece.
